McLean announces she’ll run for 4 year seat being vacated by Councilman Shealy

Boise – Today Councilwoman Lauren McLean announced her intention to run for the seat being vacated by Councilman Alan Shealy. “I’ve enjoyed working with Alan these last seven months. I’m sad to see him go but have shared with him, and other members of the council, my intention to run for his four year term.”

McLean was appointed to the City Council by Mayor Dave Bieter in December 2010. Prior to joining the Council she spent a decade volunteering on City Commissions, including a term as President of the Parks Commission and then as a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission for 5 years.

Mayor Bieter praised her decision saying, “I appointed Lauren to the City Council because I recognized her passion for Boise, her commitment to a vibrant and livable city, and her record of pulling together people from all over this community to accomplish great things for our city. In her time as a City Council member, she has exceeded my expectations. I enthusiastically support her decision to run for a four year term.”

McLean added, ”In running for this four year seat, I intend to engage members from across this community in making our vision for Boise a reality – a strong downtown with arts, culture, and commerce; vibrant neighborhoods; strong schools and relationships with our universities; economic opportunities for our current and future residents; and the parks and trails that provide Boise a truly unique quality of life.”
